Bad Price Point

I was actually going to give them my hard earned dollars.

I was going to ignore the pre-EQI graphics and the miasma of outright despair surrounding the
forums (worth browsing for entertainment value).

I was going to pretend I never saw "glowing" commentary like
this (worth clicking).

I even, somehow, managed to con someone else into possibly trying it too.

Yes, I was going to play
Dark & Light.

I figured it had to be good for a laugh and there would be fun to be had amongst the ruins and mayhem. I wanted to be a part of what might be one of the worst MMO's ever released.

But $54.99 to download? Um, no thanks. That's just bordering on offensive.

Sure, there's a choice between a $14.99 a month subscription and some kind of free plan involving credits ($14.99 for 15 credits). But that initial $54.99 is asking a lot.

We all know this game is going to be free or a lot less expensive down the road. There's no way it's going to survive at $54.99. From every impression I can get it would have a hard time surviving if they paid you to play. So why punish the early adopters when you're trying to build a population? Go with a low price now, get some subscribers and hopefully improve your game.

I'm not paying $54.99 to play Dark and Light, even though I really really want to. Must resist overpaying for comedy gaming...must resist...

Assuming it hasn't progressed much in the brief span between SoG and launch, I'm not even so sure you'll find it an amusing game (in the sense that watching a train wreck is amusing). The game is simply painful.

The shroud of rumor surrounding the game early on suggested great possibilities. Unfortunately, very little of it has come to be.

Uh, no. Dark&Light is a significantly defective product and not worth paying anything at all for.

I'd just like to get my money back from pre-ordering it! That was a total scam on the part of the developers...

One of my fellow guildies from Vox played the beta for all of a few days and then proceeded to cancel her subscription...She said DNL just wasn't worth the effort...

I was interested in playing it as well, because I pretty much buy most MMOs as they come out. The price is too steep for what the quality appears to be though, I'll have to wait for the bargain bin on this one.

Thanks for the warning about Dark & Light. I hadn't heard too much about it, but from the sounds of things it is best avoided.

I had the ummm distinct pleasure in "reviewing" Dark and Light at E3. I...I don't know what to say. It has a ton of potential, but it just doesn't look ready for release. That, and because they sent ME, the guy from Florida in the deep south to talk to the French speaking developers might have also had some influence.

I'd give it awhile before considering purchase. $54.99?! Thats robbery!

I always thought that EVE Online had the right idea for MMOs with the "free download" deal.

It's an especially sour taste when the MMO sucks to begin with ;)

Sad, all that technology put to waste...

Wise you are. I bought the rotten thing. I lasted a couple of weeks, before I decided that no amount of rushed patching was going to make it fun.
