Wild Times at the Forge

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Well, Live Update 6 hit yesterday. I've already covered, in prior posts, most of the major components such as offline selling, stat bonuses from food, the boost to harvesting skill and the live event. There are of course other minor changes you can read for yourself, including an improvement on the map system (you can finally see other group members on the map).

You many have noticed that I don't comment on tradeskilling often. The reason for this is I don't like to comment on things I don't understand too well. Hey it's not just me, the current poll of favorite class on the official forums has artisan at 4% out of 484 votes. But, I've been spending some long hours hunched over the old chemistry table as of late, so I figured I was qualified enough to at least bring you the tradeskill component of the Live Update 6 news.

Yes, be ready for some madness and mayhem down in your formerly quiet tradeskill instance. There are
now rare reaction events (you can think of them as akin to a critical hit or finding a rare when harvesting). One will give you a boost in progress and durability and a tradeskilling buff, one will complete the item, and the other will actually give you rare tradeskill components.

Some people in
the thread raise valid issues that this will make botting even more profitable, but I always say its better to ban the botters then change the game on their account.

Either way, this tradeskill event lottery is already running. So, tell all your friends out doing boring stuff like exploring new lands and slaying wild monsters that you're busy. Those tuber roots aren't going to grind themselves!

For me the problem isn't that tradeskilling is boring (okay maybe a little) but it's gathering the ingredients, either through harvesting or lower level crafting, that is painful. But still, I will be sewing, mixing, and baking now with a renewed vigor in the hopes that the tradeskill gods will cast their smile upon me.

I would sell my grandmother for the option to just buy harvesting points on a per level basis.

Heh, well put. Unfortunately I already sold my grandmother for some platinum a few weeks ago.
